Nonprofit Management concentration in the MPA in Public Administration

In this concentration students examine nonprofit organizations, their wide range of interests and causes, and their role in contemporary society. The coursework focuses on governance structures, fundraising, advocacy and lobbying, and marketing activities.

Degree Requirements (Catalog Year 2012-2013)

In addition to completing the 24 credits of required courses for the MPA, students receiving this concentration choose their 4 elective courses (12 credits) from the following.

  • Two required courses (6 credits): PUAD 505 and 659
  • Two elective courses (6 credits) chosen from: PUAD 636, 649, 652, 654, 655, 657, 658, 660, 664, 680, 720, 730

PUAD 794 Internship and PUAD 796 Directed Reading and Research may be applied to the concentration when content is appropriate and with prior written approval of the MPA director. Other courses may also be applied to the concentration with prior written approval of the director.

Students may declare only one concentration.
