Minor in Public Policy and Management

Students who minor in public policy and management are introduced to the theory and process of policy formulation and implementation in the political/governmental arena. The minor is open to all majors across George Mason, but is particularly relevant to those preparing for careers in public, nonprofit or private sector organizations involved in designing and implementing public policy.

Degree Requirements (Catalog Year 2012-2013)

In addition to meeting the following requirements for this minor, students must meet the university requirements for all minors.

Students pursuing this minor must complete 18 credits in government, with a minimum grade of 2.0 in each course. 

  • Two core courses (6 credits): GOVT 103 and 351
  • Four elective courses (12 credits) chosen from     
    • Any GOVT 350–359 public administration course
    • Any GOVT 360–369 public policy course
    • Any GOVT 450–459 public administration course
    • Any GOVT 460–469 public policy course
    • Relevant GOVT 480 with prior written approval of the minor advisor

Total: 18 credits
