Master of Public Administration | administration of justice concentration and certificate

Degree requirements

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program is designed to build the knowledge base and skills of people who play, or aspire to play, a leadership role in organizations that develop or implement public policy. Emphasis is placed on the development of knowledge about politics, public policy, and management, along with analytical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.

Course offerings in the MPA concentration in administration of justice prepares students for the challenges of administration and public service in justice agencies. This concentration is especially helpful for those interested in careers in federal, state, or local justice systems, or organizations engaged in policy evaluation and analysis of justice issues. Courses in this concentration focus on justice organizations and processes, policing, evaluation of justice and crime prevention programs, and general criminal justice issues.

Certificate in Administration of Justice

The Department of Public and International Affairs offers a 15-credit certificate in administration of justice. Admission requirements are the same as those of the MPA Program, and students who wish to continue their studies may apply certificate credits toward the MPA degree, pending admission to the MPA program and subject to university policies.
